The Chalice of Liquid Chaos by TBA

They rode within a green and violet, gem-studded carriage drawn by six ivory-white mares, upon the dark road leading to the wondrous city of Myscon. Within the crushed-red, velvet interior of the carriage, it was warm and comfortable. The three musicians were well protected from the rampaging, icy wind that howled and screamed in the outer environment.

We’ve barely gotten started and this prose is already more purple than my hair. Why are there six horses pulling this carriage? Seems a little excessive. Maybe they have a ton of gear for their concert, man.

"Sweet Goddess, I love these journeys between cities," whispered Dalios, the swarthy, lead-vocalist and borashan player of the musical group "Lemurian Resurrection".

What is a Borashan? I googled it and it’s a location in the Old Testament of the Bible.

“We are completely surrounded by primal chaos. Who knows what dark and surrealistic creatures could be lurking somewhere out there in the enchanted woodlands."

I’m going to quote this passage with zero context at my husband the next time we go camping.

The effeminate, auburn-haired violarrata player named Samira was already approaching a drug- induced state of oblivion.

Do you mind telling us what a violaratta is?

“Yes, I seem to hear them whispering," he said. "They sound like melancholy demons soaring through the astral wind. I can almost see them now." Samira's delicate features looked about ready to be laid out at his own funeral. His bloodshot, dilated eyes stared far off into nothing that could be seen or perceived by anyone but himself.

Sounds like me after taking too many edibles. Plop him down in front of a TV, have him watch Yellow Submarine, and he’ll be fine.

"Get some rest, Samira," said the lovely golden-haired dancer and guaroi player, Viasleah. “I think that you and Samira have almost reached the threshold of sanity," she said to Dalios. “Your addiction to the Mialsha Flower has altered your consciousness so that you are almost beyond the gates that guard reality."

The author takes pains to make sure we know what fantasy instrument each character plays as soon as they’re introduced, but doesn’t describe them to us. I sure would like to know what a “guaroi” is! Viasleah is basically telling her friends that they’re too stoned to function most of the time.

"Yes, that may be true," agreed Dalios, as he eased back into his pillowy seat. "I have seen glimpses of "otherworlds" beyond this one, populated by beautiful and chaotic spirits, eagerly awaiting our entrance. Each evening before I drift off to the realm of sleep, I hear the haunted lullabies sung by the Queen of Night. She has even whispered into my soul her name. The name of this mysterious Goddess is Lilliana, and she is awaiting me in the Pyramid of Dark Souls."

You’re smoking too much weed, Dalios! If you’re hallucinating that a dark elf queen is singing at you, you gotta cut back a little!

And then while gazing directly into Viasleah's leaf-green eyes, he asked, "Has the Mialsha flower not also given to you visions of other realms, where celestial spirits sing and dance to the rhythms and melodies of chaos? Are you not beckoned into these alluring worlds of enchantment?"

“But like…are these not the dankest nugs you’ve ever smoked, bro?”

"We have an obligation in this world Dalios! Do you not care about the lovely souls who follow us on tour and live for our music. How can you just leave them behind?"

I don’t know, Viasleah. People follow the Grateful Dead around everywhere and they’re all stoned out of their minds.

The question disturbed Dalios for he spoke no further. Meanwhile, the caravan entered into the stone-walled city of Myscon. The music group Lemurian Resurrection had a devoted cult of followers known as the "Dark Lemurians". These adventurous spirits traveled with the band along the lonely roads between the populated areas of Shaharasai.

The caravan was indeed a marvelous and splendid sight, composed of black, covered wagons, decorated with violet and scarlet symbols. The Dark Lemurians lived so that each evening in another exotic city, they may listen to the haunted, dark rhapsodies composed by the three musicians, and dance in celebration of both life and death.

They’re definitely Deadheads. I can smell the bong water, sweat, and patchouli oil from all the way over here. What were the violet and scarlet symbols? Dancing bears? Turtles? Skeletons wearing flower crowns?

The city of Myscon, like many others, was enclosed within a dream-wall that protected them from the surrounding rainbow mist. This strange fog was believed to cause permanent insanity, which would carry the wary mind through mysterious doorways leading to other realities. The inhabitants of Shaharasai knew themselves to be existing within an imaginative dream that was by themselves, the occupants of the realm, collectively created.

The fog is from all the weed the townspeople are smoking.

Permanent insanity to them meant letting go of the world which they knew and loved. The occupants of the Realm of Shaharasai were taught by the "Rainbow-Sun-Guardians" (whom in this story we shall speak no more of),

Why not?? You can’t just casually mention “Rainbow-Sun-Guardians” and leave me hanging here!

that although reality consists of infinite variables, there are indeed certain constants. The symbolic concept of the four elements (earth, air, fire, water), as well as the universal nexus (spirit), manifested in one way or another, on all plains of existence.

Umm…I think I’m gonna need a few hits of Mialsha Flower to understand any of that.

Tonight, Lemurian Resurrection would play in front of a crowd of thousands, performing music that would alter the consciousness, and increase the vibrational frequency of all whom listened. The beautiful creatures gathered into the mushroom-shaped auditorium adorned in black garments (symbolizing death), and colorful scarves or cloaks (symbolizing life). Many carried banners embroidered with the bands emblem, which was a multicolored, lotus flower floating above a crimson sunset. Many of these followers were, like the members of Lemurian Resurrection, addicted to the Mialsha flower. This drug was similar to the Rainbow mist, for it was known to cause a blissful form of insanity that lead to a departure from the contained reality of Shaharasai.

This sounds exactly like a psytrance rave. People show up wearing crazy costumes, the music is designed to replicate or enhance a psychedelic state of consciousness, and everyone is tripping balls. Sounds like a fun time to me!

Backstage, the atmosphere was tranquil and serene. The musicians sat surrounded by dark-paneled walls warming themselves at the blazing fire within the hearth. The plush chamber was lit by violet and aqua-blue candles. Eerie silhouettes danced upon the walls, creating images like that of demons enjoying obscene, erotic pleasures with sensuous men and women mounted upon leering-faced stallions on carousels.

How did a few candles cast shadows of demons performing sex acts on people riding a merry-go-round? Is Dalios smoking too much weed again?

"Tonight will surely be a performance to remember," said Dalios in a solemn voice. "I believe that our music may very well tear down the dreamgates, and carry not only us, but also the Dark Lemurians to another realm."

It’s gonna trip you out so much that it’ll take you to another dimension, man.

"So you have pondered my words, Dalios?," asked Viasleah in an amused voice, "and this is your decision?"

"Yes. You are quite correct that it would be a terrible thing to leave behind our people. Those who wish to follow us will be shown the pathway leading to otherworlds of experience.” Dalios then, after finishing his statement, took a long drag of his hookah-pipe filled with dried Mialsha, and passed it to Samira.

Dalios is going to hand out shrooms to everyone in the audience.

"Then so be it," whispered Viasleah, while sipping some hobnoberry wine from a crystal goblet.

HOBNOBERRY WINE

“I suppose we must fulfill our destiny." Then she laughed while pointing to Samira, "I believe that our

talented violarrata player here is already halfway there, and he certainly seems content." The young man's face was mostly hidden by his shaggy auburn locks. His angelic face looked a bit tired, although his ocean-blue eyes sparkled with both vigor and tranquillity.

Samira is faded. Hopefully he doesn’t pull a Syd Barrett and trip so hard he forgets to play his instrument.

The stage loomed above the crowd like an ominous sentinel guarding dark magical secrets. It was composed of amber and turquoise, with an oblong platform shrouded in swirling, shimmering, ochre- colored fog.

Ochre is yellowish brown. The fog is mustard gas.

There were three spiraling staircases that wound up and around the stage, like a serpent constricting its prey. The haunted scent of frankincense and myrrh permeated the air, adding an aura of deep mystery to the atmosphere.

All that’s missing is gold to add to the frankincense and myrrh and we’ll summon the three wise men who gave presents to baby Jesus.

As Lemurian Resurrection took the stage, the darkly garbed followers began to ritualistically dance, tracing arcane sigils in the air before them. Like re-animated dead children they appeared, genuflecting before the stage, bowing down low every few steps to touch the earth. The Dark Lemurians took turns parading up and down the staircase, which ascended to the platform, leaving behind offerings of black flowers and droplets of their own blood.

Why are they bleeding? Someone get them some Band-Aids!!

Samira moved the bow violently against the strings of the violaratta ( an instrument like a cross between violin and flute, sounding like a waterfall in a dark cave), while Viasleah's dexterous fingers gracefully played the guaroi (a double necked stringed instrument like a cross between a sitar and guitar, sounding like a chorus of songbirds ), and all the while Dalios created abstract thunder with his borashan (an instrument which combined drums, drone-pipes, and bells).

Bro! You could have described these instruments a few pages ago when you offhandedly mentioned them! Now you gotta do it at the last minute and interrupt yourself every few lines!

But the true magic began when the celestial, soprano vocals of Viasleah merged with the ominous chants uttered in harsh whispers by Dalios. The music cast a spell of enchantment upon the Dark Lemurians, inebriated by mialsha. The three musician's eye-beams then met, creating the mystical trinity, and it was at that point that they realized that reality would, for them, never again be the same.

The problem with describing music in prose form is that we can’t hear it. This isn’t a jab at the author; it’s endemic to any medium that doesn’t have audiovisual effects woven into it, such as a book or comic. All we can do is imagine it. What do you think Lemurian Resurrection sounds like? I’m thinking of “Seikilos” by Corvus Corax.

Dalios, while in a hypnotic trance state, brought on from the both the Mialsha flower and his own dreamy music, saw a group of flamboyantly-garbed harlequins with white painted faces, walking up the staircase, carrying what appeared to be a sarcophagus. These macabre personifications of change then approached the stage and set the smooth, obsidian coffin down upon the floor of the stage.

Suddenly we’re at the Gathering of the Juggalos!

A female from the group, with a black veil concealing most of her face, silently stepped forth, and stood pale and naked before Dalios. Grasped within her hands was a silver chalice, which she held forth while kneeling down before the charismatic borashan player. Then another harlequin, this one a young man with golden hair braided to his waist, stepped next to the dark maiden, holding in his hands a brass- handled athame. The woman moved her hands between the mans naked, muscular thighs, and began to caress and fondle his phallus and genitals. Their moans of rapture harmonized with the music, as Lemurian Resurrection continued to play.

So you guys are just going to let this random chick jerk a guy off in front of the whole audience? I didn’t know that a guy’s phallus and genitals were separate entities! Maybe he has more than one set of junk.

The male harlequin erupted in blissful orgasm, filling the silver chalice with his seed of life. Then, like lightning, he sliced the maidens throat with the ritual blade, before plunging it into his own breast. They laughed and screamed together in orgiastic anguish, as their precious blood mingled with the creamy-white sperm within the chalice.

This is turning into a Skinny Puppy concert.
More like a Mayhem one!

Dalios took the holy grail from the woman, just before both of the macabre clowns fell down into a river of their own scarlet gore. Their pale as Willies hit the ground echoing in the chamber as the music played on. They died in rapturous ecstasy with smiles of tranquillity upon their white- painted faces. Dalios then brought the shining chalice to his lips and drank deep, refreshing himself with the liquid essence of chaos.

PALE AS WILLIES! So basically, Dalios drank cummy blood out of a fancy cup. Cannibal Corpse lyrics are not an instruction manual, dude!

He spilled the remainder of the sacred fluid into the sarcophagus, which then began to shimmer with sparks, creating a dazzling, colorific display. Within the obsidian coffin appeared a staircase that led down deep into the unknown. Dalios stepped upon the strange staircase, and then the music ceased as he began his descent into the abyss followed by Viasleah, Samira, and the Dark Lemurians.

Dalios quit playing in the middle of a set, went down some spooky stairs, and the entire audience followed him. Quick reminder that several thousand people are attending this concert.

They came into a large auditorium which was round, moist and comfortable, with walls of flesh and a glass ceiling. The scent of sex was thick in the humid atmosphere, and an eerie, low-pitched, droning sound could be heard, originating from the opalescent canopy.

Is it humid and stinky or is it comfortable? I guess being high as a kite makes it easier to tolerate any environment, even if it smells like cum.

"Look," whispered the golden-haired Viasleah, while pointing out to Dalios a thin stream of white light

in the center of the room, adjoining the fleshy floor and glass ceiling.

I cannot tell a lie: I am fascinated by environments that are made of flesh.

"The Queen of night, Lilliana, is beckoning me onward to meet her. Do you have any idea what lies beyond the glass ceiling?" Dalios asked of Samira and Viasleah.

You won’t know what’s above the glass ceiling unless you break it!

“Only you can answer that question Dalios." whispered Viasleah, "What is it that your heart tells you?" "I believe," stated Dalios, "that Beyond the glass barrier, is the ocean of chaos, which I must swim through in order to arrive in the land of dreams."

"We shall travel with you then," whispered the effemina.

You’re gonna need a bigger boat. The ocean of chaos has sharks in it!

Aw man, it’s over! I wanted to know more about the stinky flesh room!
