I mentioned having a few translations to the Slayers SP series. I was thinking of emailing them individually, but it was suggested I post them here to see if others like them. Slayers SP is a sword and sorcery illustrated story running in the Dragon Magazine, the Japanese Dragon magazine published by Fujimishobo. The stories center around Lina Inverse, a freelance sorceress, and her misadventures. Naga is her partner, who sometimes proves to be a pest. Anyway, here's "White Dragon's Peak". Enjoy.

Lina is having her dinner at in some village's inn, when she was approached by an old man. oldman: You're a magic-user, I assume? oldman: I...I have something to ask of you... Lina: No. Lina says flatly. ^_^ The oldman stands mutely unmoving for a while... and there was a heavy silence.... ^_^ oldman: Well, eh....can't you at least listen to what I want to say? Lina: Oh, well, I guess... oldman: In the mountain to the east of our village... Lina: No, definitely not. Silence again.... oldman: ....excuse me...but what don't you like about it? If you don't mind, will you please tell me the reason? Lina: It's cold out there. ^_6 Yes, I, warrior and magic-user, Lina Inverse have some weak points. After all I'm a human. ^_^ And one of them is 'Cold'. We, magic-users, have a way to cool ourselves in hot weather....however, there is no opposite because.... 1. Usually magicians lock themselves up in their study and just use their fireplace to warm up. 2. Fire is difficult to control since that's part of its nature. Just yesterday, two magicians challenged the impossible. Naga the White serpent and me. Naga tried to control the fire by negating the fire by the ice spells....but as I expected, She froze an entire lake, burned down a forest instead.... And in the end, she became a fireball herself temporarily. ^_^ So, she's making some weird and creepy sounds upstairs of the inn right now. ^_^ oldman: I see, you will not help us. Lina: Nope. oldman: I understand.....I don't blame you...the opponent is a white dragon. It's a bit too strong after all. Lina: (A white dragon!?) Lina: heh heh heh heh.... Lina: (Yes, white dragon and I have something to settle.) Lina: (Yes.....when I was still a kid.... Lina: (I saw a white dragon for the first time flying through the sky gracefully...) Lina: (So I ran after it forever and forever. Lina: (Forever....then I steped on something, fell, spurn my leg and the snacks I bought spending all my moeny...fell down through a cliff..... Lina: (You, white dragon, I will never forgive you!!). Lina: (I swore that day, pointing my middle finger upward... ^_^ So Lina was persuaded to listen to the man. He is a head of the village. A white dragon came from somewhere and made his living in a mountain to the east last year. It didn't do anything bad, so they let it alone. But recently it started to cause troubles. So the old man started to look for a mercenary(ies) who can defeat the dragon. Lina happens to stop by, then. ^_^ Well, so Lina went up on the mountain. She looked around a forest to find a white dragon. and Lina hears some voice.... When she reaches to the source of the noise, there was a white dragon... But as soon as Lina saw it, it saw her, too. Then the dragon opened its mouth.... dragon: Hey! Are you alone? Lady, why don't you come here and eat bark of tree with me? ^_6 So Lina losing all her hostility against it, explains what is being tranpired. The dragon denies the charge and tells Lina that there is a blue dragon around who's causing him troubles. So Lina tells the dragon why doesn't he go down to the village and explain that. dragon: ....do you think it'll work?....are you sure? Lina: Don't worry, leave it to me! Then, Lina: ...and so, this stupid beast was trying to make up some stupid tale, but what do you think? Lina says it hitting the dragon who is binded with an enchanted wire. ^_^ I meant says to the villagers. villagers: It's a lie! We never saw a blue dragon!! That's right! Let's kill it now! Lina turns back to look at the dragon and whisper in a little voice... Lina: Well....I guess I was wrong. I guess you just have to give up thinking this is your destiny. Hahahahaha ^_^ The dragon tries to say something, but his mouth was bound... Then, some kid says, "Ah, a big bird over there!" and when Lina looked up, there was a blue dragon flying at some distance... ^_^ villagers: It's a dragon... It's huge! Lina: Seee, what did I tell you! This dragon was telling you the truth! Lina: You got to believe your fellow human beings! Villagers: ...but I didn't think you trusted the dragon, either.... Lina: Must be a figment of your imagination. ^_^

Lina cut off the wire binding the dragon. Lina: (Damn, what an lucky guy!) Dragon: Damn you, you didn't have to do that! Lina: (Seems he's complaining about my treatment that I casted 'sleep' suddenly and bounded him up and brought to the villagers. ^_^ Lina: Oh, com'n, complain later, right now! She jumps on the dragon. the back of the dragon. Lina: Villagers! Just wait here, this white dragon and I will go and get that true offender! Then the dragon flys into the air. villagers: Do your best! Get it, beat the blue dragon good! Lina: How simple and calculating those villagers are! Once they found out what you were telling them was truth, that... Dragon: Am I dreaming or do I just imagining you're 'simple and calculating', too? Lina: Wha...what're you talking about!! I believed your form the first place!! dragon: You didn't look to me, you did. Lina: (Argh). ^_6 Lina: Never mind that! We better catch that blue dragon right now! Dragon: ...humans always tries to avoid a question like that.... Lina pretends not hearing what the dragon just said. ^_^ Lina: We have to catch up with the blue dragon somehow! dragon: Count on me! Dragon: But...even if I catch up with him, do you have a way to beat him? Lina: What're you talking about. You gonna beat him. dragon: W-wait a minute! Why do I have to fight something like that!! Lina: Don't talk nonsense! You're the one who's been framed!! Therefore, you have a score to settle with that dragon! dragon: Well, that's true....but that's impossible! I'm my speciality is brain work! Why do I have to fight with strength-only blue dragon!! Lina: Well, I guess this is your 'destiny'. ^_^ Dragon: Don't talk irresposibily!! there is no way I gonna win!! Lina: Being weak spirited form the start doesn't help! Love and friendship, endeavor and fighting spirits, and luck and strength, skills and speed, intellignece, wisdom, money and authority, if you have all this there is not a thing you can not defeat! N Now, go and beat that dragon! dragon: Of course if you have all those, you're invincible! But as far as I can get are two of those!! Lina: Douh! Shut up! You're a full-grown dragon and whining around!? ....listen to me, I have three things I definitely despise in this world. dragon: What? What is it suddenly... Lina: Just listen. First, First, hot & humid summer nights. Second, people who pretend not to know when caused someone troubles.... Lina: Also, I don't like the smell of rotten zomebies, I can't forgive those who got a lot of self-importance just because he got more authority than others or knows someone who does.! Lina: Men who thinks women are some kind of tools, they must be killed definitely....although I don't like those women who is too dependant on men taking advantage of their feminity. Lina: And! I don't like someone like you who give up before doing it!! dragon: ....didn't just say...7 things or so?? Lina: Aaargh, shut up! I hate someone who bothers too much with detail, too!! dragon: ....8.... Lina: Anyway! Try to do your best! I'll help you as much as I can@@ !! dragon: ...In any case, it's kinda too late to turn back now.... Blue dragon noticed dragon and Lina. Now, they're facing each other. blue: Hey, what're you! You're the stupid white dragon brat living around here, no? blue: What do you want? What're you staring at? Say something, you're the one who stopped me! Blue dragon is twice as large as the white dragon....the white dragon, afraid, just stares at Blue dragon numbly. Lina: what're you afraid of!! Lina: Why don't you say something! Overwhelm him with your tirade first and be on advantage mentally!! You told me blue dragon got no brain but pudding instead!! blue: What did you just say! blue stares at white... Blue: You...you were saying something like that? my brain's pudding? How interesting!! white: I didn't say that! blue: Shut fuck up! I don't care who said it wheter you or the dirty short human on your back!! Lina: ...d-dirty, short...? ^_^ Lina whispers to white dragon in his ear. Lina: Hey. White: What is it? Lina: I'll help you. Then Lina starts casting her spell... blue: Heh, what're you guys munbling about! If you got a problem, why don't you.... Lina: Shut up! Dragslave! *zugyaaaaaan* ^_^ With Lina's spell, the ground behind Blue dragon shatters. Blue and white become stiff with surprise. Lina: Ufu.... Ufufufufufufufu... Lina laughs very nastily. ^_6 Lina: I intentionally missed you. Lina pointing her middle finger upward: If you don't run around as best as you can, it'll hit you. Blue: W---wait a moment! What kind of personality do you have!! Blue dragon runs for his life. Lina: Shut up! Now, fly, white dragon! Chase him quickly! white: ...Well, I.... Lina: If you don't do it fast, I'll hit your back iwth a fireball! So the chase has begun. Lina: Fufufufufufufufufu ^_^ Lina's casting Dragslave without thinking the consequences.... Dragslave is Lina's 2nd most powerful spell, btw. She can blow a mountain with it. white: E....excuse me, but can you stop laughing like that on my back? I-it's very scary for some reason.... Lina: Don't worry. Lina: Fufufufufufufufu *bang* *bong* *dang* Lina: (No, I'm not doing this for fun!) Lina: (Please, believe me. ^_^) white: E-excuse me, mom! Lina: What is it? white: Well, if you can, can you please reserve casting your spell a bit? Lina: What's wrong with it! You got a problem with that?? white: But...the shape of mountains has changed. Lina: (Oh, that's right. Lina: Now that you mentioned it, my sister told me to 'protect nature'. Lina: But then, there is a saying 'a bit of damage can't be helped.' white: Arrgh, please don't tear up my territory any more than this!! Lina: ..but if we don't let it escape, it'll come back for revenge. Okay....I'll beat him. So, please don't do anything. white dragon got polite right after he saw Lina cast Dragslave. ^_^ Lina: Blue dragon, stop! Blue dragon stops obediently. Lina: (Now, that's a good dragon.) ^_^ Lina:The situation has changed. You'll be duelling with this white dragon. Okay? Blue: What...with that? blue: If I win, you'll let me go, is that it? Lina: Yes. If you swear not to harm humans anymore, I'll let you go. So Lina gets off from the back of white dragon and stands on a peak of a mountain. Lina: The fighting area will be anywhere I can see you two from here. There is no other rule. Both dragons nod. Lina: Fight! *bang* The two dragons crash into each other. White dragon gets more damage, flys toward Lina uncertainly... In a little voice, white dragon: ....I have a second thought, I'd like to stop a barbaric thing like this, can't we stop? No? Lina: What're you, giving up so soon!! Listen to me! If you try to run away, I'm gonna blow you up, understood!! white dragon, in very wimpy voice: Oh, no..... Blue: Hey, no coaching!! Blue dragon breathes deeply and fires! white dragon doges hastily. Lina put out a fire wall of her own and deflects the fire. Lina: Attacking your judge is Death! Be warned next time! Blue: Y-yes, mam! Blue dragon replys his face twitching. white dragon, still not recovering from the damage he got, flying between a valley somewhat below. blue: Bastard! I'm gonna get you! Blue thrusts himself to white dragon, shortening the distance very quickly. Blue dragon tries to bite white's tail. white: Stop! Don't bite my tail!! ^_6 Lina: (Idiot, don't say that!!) Taking the clue, Blue dragon having fun trying to bite white's tail. white: Hey! Stop! I beg you!....just kidding! white dragon flips backward suddenly. and as he flips, he tears Blue dragon's wings!! Blue dragon, his wings useless now, fell down to the ground.... From this height....a dragon can't hope to survive... So, white dragon won with his devicious trick.

When they returned to the village, the white dragon was a hero. The villagers treated Lina and white dragon with a feast. white: ...no, that's alright now. I don't care anymore. villager: No, no, we're really sorry. villager: We're sorry we doubted a good dragon like you. but all the incidents involved snow, you see. The lake froze, an avalanche happened and so on.... But we should've guess from the mountain fire. Lina spewed her drink wildly. ^_6 Lina: (the mountain fire....frozen lake....an avalanche....) Lina: (They're all caused by Naga and me!?) Lina: A...ahahaahahaha....no nothing, nothing at all. Lina waves her hand frantically at the villagers. Lina: (....so, does this mean that blue dragon was just passing by?) Lina: (....well, for now, let's hide today's incident deep in to my heart.) Lina: (As soon as Naga's wounds healed, we got out of the village as if running away....I'm sure you could've guessed that.)
