a_drac_pic_and_a_story
Nope, not that new to NGs, I'm not putting up a binary. But I drew a pic of a drac (well, actually, it's a Transformer who's beast form is a dragon, but you can't tell the difference). I also have a form of chimera posted, called a jyphon (not a typo). Anyway, the page's at http://www.geocities.com/southbeach/palms/2115/pics.html
As for the story, this will be a LONG one, and I don't know if I should continue it- actually, I know I want to, but I don't quite have the time. I'd *love* comments on it, maybe it'll inspire me to write further? :|-)
Anyway, here is the beginning of the BlueForest story, different than the one on my site (tho' this is posted there too).
Fay pushed her jet-black hair behind an ear, throwing her purse over her shoulder while juggling the rest of her papers. Her mind sorted through the activities of the day, which she knew she would forget the second her first chore was completed. She bustled through the kitchen, only to find her son gawking at the television with his coat off.
"That's enough tv; we'll be late." she told him, reaching for the knob.
"No, Mom! There's gonna be magic on.."
"I thought magic shows were boring."
"They are, Mom, but this is real magic. They got an inside source. There's gonna be a real witch."
"Witches are just make-believe, hon, now we have to get..." She glanced at the television screen. A girl was now standing there, so... something that the reporter nearly tripped into her cameraman. The girl reminded Fay of an article she had read. This girl had the same eerie yet beautiful features of a composite model of the average of a hundred faces. She stared at the screen now, and her son followed her lead.
"Hello," said the girl, "I am the one who contacted you."
"You?" said the reporter, regaining her composure in a second, "So, where's the show? Or is this just a hoax?"
"No. I have a simple message to deliver, and this medium will work better for this particular purpose. You see, I come from a land of refuge, where those you call myths are real. Where those you call endangered and dumb animals flourish; where there is peace." The girl noticed the reporter losing interest. A slight reflection off the camera obscured her shoulders, a mist of light. Adjust the camera, you... And the girl had wings. They flapped teniously around her sides, then settled back, twitching slightly. There was no lack of interest now, but, for good measure, the girl settled comfortably into a winged blue leopard's form, though slightly altered so that she could keep her eye-level stance.
"I am BluePard. I am Guide of BlueForest. We have remained hidden from your kind for centuries, but recently we opened ourselves to the world again, to hustle a few more refugees into our sanctuary." She shook her head.
"We were blind to think only our own kind in our own forms needed our help. There are others," she said, tilting her head in a bird-like gesture and eyeing Fay through the screen, "Others whom are like our kind, but trapped in man form. We seek to help them as well now. I shall lead all who wish into BlueForest. No cameras, no more than one at a time. But it will be done. Go to Pint's Peak if you wish to be free again. I await." And the pard wrapped herself into nothingness, leaving Fay with an odd, chilling feeling. Unconsiously she raised her hands into tight fists, clenching them under her neck to wrap her membraned wings close to her body, to warm the chill that flowed down her spine with her hot daemon's blood. She wiggled her fingers slightly to arrange the webbing... no, it was her imagination. She was not a monster, she did not have wings, she was only imagining it. She glanced back at the television. They were replaying all the miracles of that brief interview. Her imagination may lie, but the camera....
"Mom, mom..." her son tugged at the edge of her sweater, "I have to go to school, 'member?"
